 SP

Seasonal Energies – Fire
Element –  Earth

Sensory Characteristic: The pulse of the SP reflects two qualities: an active core reflecting the heat of the SP, and a soft blanket surrounding the core, reflecting the dampness that is characteristic of the SP.

Common Imbalances:

Weakness of the SP When the core is clear and its activeness is pronounced beyond the blanket of dampness, this is indicative of proper functioning of the SP. A pulse of the SP that is soft, without an active core, is indicative of weakness of the SP.

Emotional Wind (Gui) in the SP - This pulse is common in conditions in which children suffer from chronic stomachaches that have no diagnosis in Western medicine. Such conditions are primarily emotional.

 HT

Seasonal Energies – Fire
Element –  Fire

Sensory Characteristic:

HT qi is associated with Fire on both the Element level and the level of the Seasonal Energies.  The pulse feels large, swollen, and active, and at the same time hollow. It can be clearly felt with a light touch and loses form when pressing deeper.

In children, the pulse at the HT position is almost always balanced, as the HT is the body’s most well protected organ.

Common Imbalances:

Emotional Wind (Gui) in the HT - This pulse reflects deep trauma experienced by the child.

 SI

Seasonal Energies – Earth
Element – Fire

Sensory Characteristic:

The pulse of the SI reflects activeness, as part of the strenuous activity of the digestive system. The pulse feels somewhat taut and therefore elongated.

Children do not contract illnesses characterized by direct imbalance of the SI.
